Sleeping Beauty (1959) was another influence in my lifetime as an artist. My first crude little crayon drawings were of Aurora in this dress. The art direction of Sleeping Beauty was created by Ewynd Earle and Mary Blair, and drew from medieval icons and tapestries, while being rooted in mid-century design aesthetics. These sharp angled and clean designs were a huge influence on my work.
